Tandem Techniques

Tandem carrying is definitely on our list of advanced #babywearing techniques! But if you have multiples, or siblings close in age, learning how to balance both their needs with double carriers can be a saviour.

Generally, we recommend becoming confident with both front and back wearing before trying to combine them. Both infants should be developmentally mature enough to sit upright, with the youngest/smallest on the front.

You'll need to go-ahead from your medical adviser that your postnatal body is ready to support the additional weight: particularly if you have any issues with pelvic floor or abdominal muscle weakness.

There are purpose-designed carriers like the @twingocarrier, which reduce the shoulder strap bulk, otherwise you can use most soft-structured carriers this way or even combine one with a different type of carrier. You can pop a baby on each hip with two ring slings and there are techniques using longer-length woven wraps.

It's important to learn how to wear your little ones together safely and comfortably. We are happy to advise you of your options and support you while you learn. #tandemwearing
